+THRILLED (f, 2, Uncle Mo–Excited {GSW, $244,796}, by Giant’s Causeway) was sent postward as the 3-1 second choice for this career debut and got up in the final strides to become the sixth winner for her freshman sire (by Indian Charlie). The bay drilled steadily at the Spa dating back to early June and completed her preparations with a pair of five-furlong works over the Oklahoma turf course July 27 and Aug. 3. Away in good order, she settled in midpack as Harmonize (Scat Daddy) set an uncontested pace. Skimming the rail turning for home, Thrilled quickened to tag the pacesetter in the dying strides by a nose. Favored Ava’s Kitten (Kitten’s Joy) was third. The winner’s dam won her debut here in 2010 for this owner-trainer combination and annexed the GIII Virginia Oaks in 2011. She hails from the extended family of GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner Spain (Thunder Gulch). Excited foaled a Shanghai Bobby colt in 2015 and was bred this spring to Verrazano. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $49,800. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
